Welsh church begins net-zero carbon footprint refurbishment
[Church in Wales] St. Cadoc’s Church in Caerleon, a suburb of Newport, Wales, is undergoing a major refurbishment aimed at achieving a net-zero carbon footprint — a redevelopment has been in discussion for over 20 years.
Among the changes will be underfloor heating powered by air source heat pumps and solar photovoltaic panels, and a glass vestibule that will allow the west doors to be opened, inviting natural light into the building.
The Rev. Sue Pratten said the effort will create a vibrant, inclusive and adaptable church that will be fit for the 21st century.
