Archbishop of Canterbury addresses International Meeting for Peace

[Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury] Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby called for a renewed commitment to peace in a world of conflict in a speech to the International Meeting for Peace in Paris.

Addressing the opening assembly of “Imagine Peace” on Sept. 22, Welby set out a Christian vision of peace and reconciliation, which he said began by partnering with God in prayer.

The event at the Palais des Congrès was attended by the president of France, Emanual Macron, who gave a reflection on the theme of imagining peace. Hosted by the Community of Sant’Egidio and the Archdiocese of Paris, the annual gathering brings together religious figures, political and civil leaders, and people of every generation.
