[Anglican Communion News Service] The Most Rev. Stephen Cottrell, the archbishop of York in the Church of England, recently visited two Episcopal Church dioceses in the United States, the Diocese of Rhode Island and the Diocese of Pennsylvania.
During the visit, Cottrell attended and preached at a service of Evensong at Christ Church in Westerly, Rhode Island, on May 23, the eve of Pentecost. The service and a reception were coordinated with The Compass Rose Society, a funding body that supports the life of the Anglican Communion.
Then on May 24, Cottrell joined Rhode Island Bishop Nicholas Knisely, New Jersey Bishop Sally French and Pennsylvania Bishop Daniel Gutiérrez at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral for a formal dinner in celebration of the work of the Compass Rose Society.
