Welsh churches create warm hub to bring soup and cheer through the winter
[Church in Wales] A new warm space café in Dolgellau is helping the community combat the triple challenge of winter fuel costs, food poverty and social isolation.
Clwb Cawl, launched by churches in the Bro Cymer Ministry Area, provides both a warm space and hot meals during the coldest months of the year. The Rev. Carol Roberts, one of the Clwb Cawl organizers, says, “It is important that as churches in the Bro Cymer Ministry Area we reach out to our local communities and find ways to serve them and support them.”
Operating from November to January, the initiative offers a warm sanctuary where people can enjoy freshly made soup provided free of charge and supplied by a local business. It’s also an opportunity for people to meet others, have a chat and enjoy the company.
