[Diocese of West Missouri] The Diocese of West Missouri on Nov. 9 elected the Very Rev. Amy Dafler Meaux to be its ninth diocesan bishop. She was elected on the first ballot during the diocese’s 135th annual convention at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City.
Meaux serves as dean and rector of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas. She previously served parishes in New Orleans, Louisiana; Dallas, Texas and Danville, Kentucky.
“I’m so humbled,” the bishop-elect said addressing the convention by video call after her election. “Your trust and your support mean the world to me, and I’m just so excited to get there.
“I cannot wait to be in ministry together.”
Meaux was chosen from a slate of four nominees. The other nominees were the Rev. Jimmy Abbott, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Galveston, Texas; the Rev. Bradley Pace, rector of St. John’s, Lafayette, Indiana; and the Rev. Molly Payne-Hardin, rector of Trinity Church, Watertown, New York.
Pending consent, Meaux will be ordained and consecrated on May 3, 2025, and will succeed Bishop Provisional Diane M. Jardine Bruce, who has served the diocese since Dec. 1, 2021.
