World Council of Churches leaders meet with Chinese religious affairs minister

[World Council of Churches] World Council of Churches leaders met on Nov. 20 with Duan Yijun, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee and director general of the National Religious Affairs Administration in China.

The vice minister offered a heartfelt welcome to the WCC as a sign of strong, healthy and steadfast relations.

During the meeting they discussed the role of the WCC working for unity, world peace and building bridges between religions and churches. They also spoke about the longstanding relations between the WCC and the China Christian Council, which since 1991 has hosted four meetings with the WCC Commission of the Churches on International Affairs, in addition to the WCC executive committee in 2016, the WCC Commission on Faith and Order in 2016, and now the WCC executive committee in Hangzhou.
